Perriello Vies For Southside Support

Although it is not listed on his website yet it has just come to my attention that Congressman Perriello has opened a new district office in Martinsville, VA. I thought this odd since he already has an one only 28 miles away in Danville. I called his Washington of staff and they confirmed that he now has an office at 10 E. Church Street Suite K in Martinsville. I find this odd because his other offices are situated about an hour and a half to two hours apart. Why would Tom waste tax payer dollars to operate two offices so close together?

Upon deliberation I realized that Tom is now facing a threat from a southside challenger next year and he is countering this by trying to establish a stronger presence in that area. He is doing this by wasting our hard earned tax dollars to pay for unneeded office space and the staff to operate it. Once again Mr. Perriello puts his ambitions ahead of the citizens he is supposed to represent. If Tom wants to open a campaign office let him pay for it with the appropriate funds not tax payer dollars.

Now if you were to question Tom he would say that this office is needed because of the difficulties that the people in this area are currently having due to the bad economy. This would be a totally bogus argument considering the distance to the already established office in Danville. There is absolutely no reason for this new office and Congressman Perriello should close it immediately and quit wasting tax payer dollars. This is a blatant attempt at self promotion and does nothing to enhance the lives of anyone in that area.

This reminds me of the saying, “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”

Do you think that Perriello was able to get an office within a week of Hurt’s announcement? Please. He campaigned in Martinsville saying it needed an office. In addition to its ridiculously high unemployment, the Henry County/Martinsville micropolis has about 70k people.

You missed the main point in the post which was why he needed an office only 28 miles from his other office. This is a waste of tax payer money and does nothing to enhance the lives of people living in this area. It is just a self serving move to make Tom look good.

So a office in Danville was to far away for Tom to drive to Martinsville give me a break. Tom better enjoy his time in office the Republicans of the 5th are going to replace him next year.

This Congressional office craze was started by Virgil wanting to have an office in Rocky Mount. It’s absurd to have the taxpayers paying for four offices across the 5th District. Especially when some are in places like Danville where we already have a Senate office.
