Individuals do ultimately choose individual candidates.

The RNC and RPV have indeed distanced themselves in recent years not only from the citizens they claim to represent but also from many primarily conservative republicans they claim to represent as well.

Even our first President lamented the fact that we would even have political parties in the first place (in his Farewell address I believe).

If followed, however, this new rule will mean no money to many incumbants in Washington, and that is a welcome change I would applaud.

Agreed! My wife and I have stopped giving to the national party. We give our money to individual candiates now and not just local ones these days. The internet is a game changer with respect to knowing about and contibuting to candidates. That is empowering us peasants.

Good post. The problem with the political establishment is that they have a top down leadership structure. This is a collectivist plague upon our nation. It's time for the GOP to get out of the way and learn that just like our Representatives they serve the people...well, the Republican people.

It is obvious that not only the people of the 5th district, but, around the country feel that any national Republican committee, be it the RNC, the NRSC or the NRCC should not involve themselves, by funding or endorsement, for any primary contest around the country. We can scream about it all day long, they will not change, yet. Those that "get it" do not send contributions to the national committees, they send their contricutions directly to the candidates they prefer. Take a look at the Republican committee's fundraising numbers, they are very weak and very bleak. I'm not sure that any one of the committee's have the amount of dollars to even effect just a couple of national races. Asking McCain to sit down, and, shut up, is like asking a leopard to change his spots. Fund the candidates of your choice. Choke off the Republican committees of funds, they will have no choice but to "wise up" or become obsolete, they are more than half way there now.
