LaCivita Denigrates Hurt’s Opponents

“With this group, if you can walk and chew gum at the same time, you think you can be a member of Congress,”…This quote was from an article in the Los Angeles Times in which the ever despicable Chris LaCivita shoots his mouth off once again about Robert Hurt’s opponents in the 5th district congressional race.

Let’s take a look at the people who this man is disparaging. We have Michael McPadden a gentleman who earned a degree in electrical engineering and became a navy pilot and is now a commercial airline pilot. Next there is Jim McKelvey who grew up in a difficult environment and was able to become a successful real estate developer with a net worth of millions of dollars. From Albemarle County we have Ken Boyd who has been involved in the financial industry for decades and was Executive Vice President and senior operating officer for the computer subsidiary of Jefferson National Bank. Also from Albemarle County we have Laurence Verga a real estate investor who also started out from meager beginnings and built a successful business. From Fluvanna County we have Feda Kidd Morton, Feda graduated” Cum Laude “from Longwood College with a degree in biology and teaches regular, honors and advancement placement biology at the Fluvanna County school system.

Here is a group of challengers to what LaCivita seems to think is Hurt’s birthright, a group of very successful people that do not deserve to be denigrated by a sleaze like LaCivita. It is time that Senator Hurt get rid of this man who is bringing politics in the 5th district to a new low.

Politics ain’t softball. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. You need a thick skin to be a candidate. I can pile on the metaphors.

    Ease up on Chris there.

He’s not the one running for office, he’s a strategist, and he’s a darned good one otherwise you’d be talking about how bad a president John Kerry was.

So the LA Times (unsurprisingly) wants him taken down a notch. Maybe they’d feel more comfortable seeing Republicans advised by people who haven’t done anything before. Can’t see why you’d want to play a part in having the LA Times try to take down a pretty respected political strategist like La Civita.

If you want to keep Hurt from getting the nomination, I’d suggest you focus your attention on him.

LaCivita is a tough hombre, no doubt about it.

LaCavita’s watching Hurt getting less traction then big wheel on an icy road. If insults make for courage then Kelly in Virginia must be Hurt’s mom. That boy can do no wrong in her eyes.

Keep it up swift boat Chris and this will go just like Allen’s Senate race against Webb. Yeah everyone forgets how WELL you did on that one.
One more Republican official who does’t think the 11th commandment doesn’t apply to them

Anyone with first-hand knowledge knows that Robert Hurt has been totally supportive of the basic thrusts of the Tea Party. The manner in which several blogsters and T-Party people misrepresented the confusion over his attendance at the first so-called debates is pretty clear evidence that certain of the Party folks are just out to slam Hurt. Unless they are committed to re-electing Perriello, they need to smarten up and find common ground.

As for LaCivita’s comments, so what? He’s not Robert Hurt. He’s Chris LaCivita–and as one of you said, without LaCivita, we could be suffering right now under President John Kerry. Trying to smear Hurt, who is our only hope, by association is counter-productive.

No one here is conservative enough to suit me, but I’m smart enough to know I can’t have it all. Let’s just get rid of Perriello!

thanks for the compliment that I must be Robert Hurt’s mother. Mrs. Hurt is a lovely woman; friendly, yet poised. She is also very intelligent.

let’s not insult her by comparing her to me.

Is it any truth to the rumors im hearing that Robert Hurt is going to withdraw this coming Wednesday ?

Gene, it appears to me that your real concern here is that your choice for the 5th will not have any chance to win unless Hurt does withdraw! And, isn’t that a sad commentary on the appeal of your candidate? Ahh, the wiles of the wiley will always be awful!

And that’s the way it is…………….

Sen Hurt is still planning events for March & beyond. Doesn’t sound like a man ready to withdraw.

Im sure those events have been planned for some time from what I hear he only decided to withdraw on Friday after long thought.

I don’t know if I recall this correctly, but didn’t Mr. LaCivita run Cuccinelli’s AG campaign?

Holy cow, just what we need to beat Perriello–silly rumor mongers on the loose. Since you know so much, Gene, can you tell us why Senator Hurt, the contender with the best track record who has raised the most money from the most people, would quit? Nut cases like you do little to help the image of the Tea Party and the magnificent expression of the American spirit that it reflects. Folks like you give the rest of us a bad name. But do tell us the reasons yu think Hurt will drop out.

LaCivita ran Cuccinelli’s campaign. and helped beat John Kerry thru his work at Swift Boat Veterans.

Verga’s “campaign manager?” Never knew he had a real campaign, much less a campaign manager. Has he yet found out which counties are in the 5th District?

Gene, as to who your pick is, I definitely believe it is not Robert Hurt, and, I’m sure you would agree with that statement. As to who else it might be, I have no idea; only you know the correct answer. But, your attempt to start an unfounded, but provocative rumor regarding Hurt obviously shows the desperation that your candidate is feeling as he/she faces the political truths of the 5th District of the state of Virginia in February of 2010.

And that’s the way it is………..

    Ummm…..Longwood isn’t a very good school….just saying.

And LaCivita didn’t really run Cuccinelli’s campaign. He was the general strategist which is the same position he has with Hurt. Actually running the campaigns for Cuccinelli was Meredith Quillen and for Hurt is Sean Harrison. LaCivita’s involvement is huge and credit goes to him for Cuccinelli’s win. But if we are defining and looking at things literally LaCivita doesn’t “run” day to day operations on campaigns those are the campaign managers. LaCivita deals mostly with message, general strategy, the media , etc.

Based on what you are describing, then LaCivita is indeed speaking for Senator Hurt. I am trying very hard to like Hurt because I think he might be the best answer we have. But it doesn’t help win me over when LaCivita says what he did about us to the L A Times. It was uncalled for. It was unfair. It was wrong. And based on what I’ve read about Hurt’s view of us Tea Party guys, I think LaCivita’s comments probably did not reflect Hurt’s view. Any thoughts on that?
