I find that I’ve been spending lots of time the last few years critically thinking about various subjects. I spend time analyzing my thoughts, opinions, and actions and how they fit in with all things that occur.
Why do you consider yourself a Conservative, a Republican, or however you define yourself?

I believe that truth exists and is not relative. I believe that our liberties are given us by our Creator, among those being life, liberty, and property. Government must remain limited and not interfere with the free market economy, only seeking to protect its citizens and enforce justice. I also believe that no government has the right to interfere with the already established standards of morality. To do such a thing, even in the name of individual liberty, would require government to arbitrarily redefine natural law, which predates human government, and such a move would be a large power grab by said government.
I’m a conservative because I recognize that there is a large set of precious values passed down to us in our tradition which ought to be conserved. Liberty is one of them, but although it is one of the most important, it is not the only one and it doesn’t trump all the others, so I’m not a libertarian. Economic equality is not amongst the set of precious values, so I’m not a leftist. The values include, liberty, justice, prosperity, self-reliance, the rule of law, gratitude, courage, family loyalty, truth and standards of evidence, and many others. Big government is incompatible with many of these values.
