With Nancy Pelosi and gang making a big push in the House to vote for the Senate’s healthcare bill (which would make that Senate Bill a signable bill for Obama, but I digress), little gems are being revealed all over and Democrats are resigning in droves.
This information coming from Tom Perriello’s office raised quite a few questions for me. Tom’s press secretary Jessica Barba said that his office’s tally on Thursday, March 4 showed that 88% of the calls came from outside the district. Then she said “We believe that we have had more calls in support of health are from inside our own district,” said Barba.
Read both those sentences again and take a moment to think about what they are saying.
So Tom’s office claims that 88% of the calls on a single day came from outside the district because they are keeping records of this. But “We believe that we have had more calls in support of health are from inside our own district”. This sentence doesn’t quite read right and that’s another indicator of problems. The problem I have with it is that they ‘believe’ more calls from the district are in support of healthcare.
Tom’s office has tallied where the calls are coming in from but not tallied the numbers regarding the views of the voters in our district. This is a great example of selective reporting. What are the tally numbers for our district? How many were for Gov’t Care and how many oppose it? What were the tally numbers for those outside of our district? Where are the calls coming from? C’mon tallyman, show us the data! Of course, we’ll never see the data and Tom’s office is trying to justify his YES vote for healthcare, whereas the majority of the district is against it.

Also, it may interest some folks here in the 5th that our Congressman fully supports passage of this health care monstrosity via budget reconciliation.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee has the Polis/Pingree letter posted on their site here: http://whipcongress.com/letter Read the letter and list of signers closely. These are the progressives who must be targeted for early retirement in November.
And, yes, call his office. Daily, if you can. The House vote is next week.
Just tried to call Representative Perriello. No answer and mailbox was not accepted voice messages. I have had this experience with him before. I am not sure that he is really interested in the views of his constituents especially if they are not supportive.
interestingly, I got an email from Tom this a.m. He asked me, as one of the subscribers to his “letters”, to vote in healthcare poll. I voted NO of course.
then I went to his website to see if the poll were there too. No. Poll only sent to subscribers. My guess is that 85-90% of subscribers are Dems. and then he will use this vote to say “Voila! my district overwhelmingly supports the rape of our economy.”
and yes, I have had troubles reaching his staff by phone in the past. And be careful, during the townhall season last summer, his staffers gave out completely false info about the healthcare bill. They had not read it–I had.

Perriello is a complete weasel. Usually, IF you can get through to ask how the Congressman intends to vote, they tell you that he hasn’t made up his mind yet. This was true the day of the December vote.
Either Tom is is a very, very deep thinker… or he is afraid of his own constituents.
